Incumbent View
A&P/Classified/Teacher/Librarian
An incumbent is an individual who has a relationship to a position. When an individual is hired (assigned) to work in a specific position, he or she becomes the incumbent and inherits the attributes of the position. When the incumbent leaves a non-faculty position, the position stays, retains its attributes, and is vacant. Another incumbent can now fill this position.
