Contact System Authorizations
The Contact System is an extension of the Department System wherein a department head designates individuals who perform a specific role for the department. An individual may have more than one role in a department and can be a contact for more than one department. The Contact System section is accessible from the Employee Authorizations section.
The screen below lists the employee's Contact Types, identifies the Departments and Campuses they serve, and enables the employee's contact status to be modified.

To view contacts for a department:
- Click Contact in the Contact Type column header to go to the UT Austin Department System home page.
- Enter your department code and click Go to Department Information. On the page that appears, locate the Department section shown below.
- Click the link for Department Contacts. A list appears with the type of contact, name(s), sponsoring department, and department code.
- Contact type definitions are available here.
- If the user has a large number of authorizations, a continue button ( ) may appear at the bottom of the screen. Click the button to view additional entries.
- Use the right-hand scroll bar as needed to view additional entries and the up/down arrows to reverse the order of displayed data.
- To remove an authorization, click the Request Removal link; notifications will immediately be sent to all owners of the related authorization informing them of the action.
NOTE: Be absolutely certain that you wish to remove the authorization before clicking the link.
